 Sandhan valley, which Is popularly known as "VALLEY OF SHADOWS"."THE GREAT CANYON" in Sahyadri ranges which is combination of canyon and valley. Located in the Ahmednagar district, India. Valley is nearly 200 feet deep and about 1,5 km long located on western side of Bhandardara region, near Samrad village.

valley is surrounded with mighty forts Alang, Madan and kulang known as AMK rated as toughest trek in Sahyadri. Ratangad, Ajoba, and Kalsubai (5400 feet) highest peak in Maharashtra mountain ranges. Ghatghar dam located near by is ideal unexplored camping spot in Maharashtra

   Attraction:

Sandhan valley trek basically starts with rappelling. Rappelling is one of the most attractive and adventureful experience of the trek. In whole trek we may have to do rappelling 2 or 3 times(2 patches are compulsory). it involves nearly 12 feet to 70 feet rappelling points. another attraction is stay overnight under the open sky ,enjoying bonfire near the lake.

Experience:

Walking through the narrow streak of valley with 200 feet rock walls on both sides is awesome lifetime and little bit thrilling experience . Descending full Sandhan valley is always a memorable outing and the overnight stay under sparkling sky, along the reservoir side.

We were trekking between two huge ranges of mountains. The sun was spreading its rays but mountains were just blocking maximum of them and its just a hide and seek between them.

Trek is not as simple as it looks. completing this trek definitely needs lots of patience, determination. as it involves climbing many big rocks, many points were their we need a proper guidance from guide. There is one bog rappelling spot(nearly 60 feet) and two small spots(20 to 25 feet) which needs proper rope ladder with proper guide.

Trek is generally very challenging physically. There is no stay option in between valley except camping under sky using tents. there's no any shopping option near valley so you should carry all needed things with you only with first aid box.

Best time to visit:

Best time to visit Sandhan valley is in winter, autumn. in monsoon  sometimes due to heavy rain valley is close for visitors, so not recommended in monsoon. avoid visiting it in summer as it gets very hot and valley is not much covered with greenery.
