“Perhaps the world’s second- worst crime is boredom; the first is being a bore”
-Sir Cecil Beaton
Boredom usually occurs when there is little interest or no interest in the task we are performing. It is a signal that we’re not meaningfully engaged with the world. Every morning, I motivate myself by flicking through autobiographies of successful people. These books inspire me to study for the first half of the day. But after that, I lose my interest. I get bored of studying very easily, probably much more than my friend. When I start studying, I usually get distracted, consequently searching for my phone and I’ll end up scrolling Instagram and You tube. When one is bored, their boredom can be seen precisely through their work. A person is not knowledgeable about the situation that they are in when they are bored. For instance, when I relish my work, I’ll endeavor my best and it will yield me appreciable results. But when I’m bored with my work, I cannot be maximal in working and it won’t result good things. Almost all students start getting bored right after holding a book or even the minute they decide to study. But don’t be worried!. Studying gives you pleasure when you convince yourself that it’s fun and when you understand that it will be beneficial for you more than anything else.
“A finished person is a boring person."
- Anna Quindlen
