Dear readers, today I will discuss about the true righteousness or “Dharma” which ultimately leads to eternal peace. When is action justified? In Mahabharata, the Kauravas, plotted many accidents against the Pandavas, many times, and everytime the Pandavas came out safe and sound without falling prey to their arranged situation. But, now they are not allowing even 5 villages to the Pandavas, the princes of Pandu King without the conquest of the land by war. See it is not the right action, that if you hit me I also hit you in return. But when there was no option left, so then also Arjuna sought the advice of Bhagwan Krishna that will it be righteous to wedge war with these relatives, alas, righteousness now stays in establishing the true justice for all the previous deeds the Kauravas had earlier performed, as determined only by war. This is but the ultimate reply. Then too Bhagwan in Gita explained Arjuna how to proceed in this path with pure determination. One should rise above all petty levels, his mind should not be disturbed by sorrow or ecstasy, his mind should not be attached to the worldly pleasures and wealth. Because wealth and greed breeds anger when the addiction of accumulating wealth is hindered by some means of failure, and mind loses all balance because of anger, which leads to the degradation of one's own status, ultimately action of failure. If a person is always calm and concentrated, he is a yogi and his actions are to the fullest potent, he is only compatible to perform immense hypotensive actions to success. So Arjuna prepare yourself to that extent and conduct your actions, and hope that whatever has happened is all for good, and whatever will happen will also be for the good, so look no further backward, to establish righteousness you have to wedge the war. Many such explanations have been given in this regard in Bhagwat Gita when Arjuna took his bow (= Gandive) and arrows and never looked backward, and finally won the Kurushetra war, that is a great epic story, but success did come, when he proceeded as Bhagwan Krishna had directed him.
Swami Vivekananda taught us to believe in God and love him and all his creations, and to feel that, ‘all are one’ , is the best way to understand religion. Sanatan dharma , the eternal righteousness lies in the fact that happiness is to all and happiness is for all, otherwise happiness only self centred is not righteousness or dharma. When righteousness is established for all it is dharma. Let it be true always.
