In this pandemic, we are not able to go on travel and tours. So I thought I'd share my previous experiences of travelling through these blogs.
Kolkata is a city with much history and you can still see it reflected in it's architecture, food and culture. A home to India's oldest museum, zoo and planetarium. History and culture buffs will surely enjoy this city.
When in Kolkata you must visit the iconic Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum and the Alipore Zoological Park. You should also visit Princep Ghat and view the Sunset. It will not only leave you with a stunning view but also make good pictures for your gram.
For all the cricket lovers you can also visit the famous stadium, Eden Gardens.
Do make sure you ride the Tram, that runs across the city. It is one of it's kind. You can also ride on the boat at Howrah Bridge and be awed by this wonderful engineering structure.
Kolkata is a foodie's paradise. Whenever I am in new place, I like to gorge on the local cuisine. Kolkata offers you a wide range of food. The iconic kathi roll is a must have. Nizam's is an iconic restaurant that offers great Mughlai food. Do try the Mughlai paratha, once. I also recommend the biryani, and it has aloo. Yes, may sound a little strange but trust me it will not disappoint you. A famous biryani house is , Arsalan. Do try the famous Luchi (puri, as we know it) and ghughuni (matar ki sabji) for breakfast at any local sweet shop or eateries. It's a great combo and a local favorite for breakfast in Bengal. The street food in Kolkata is delicious. You can also try authentic Bengali food. The Bengali thalis available at normal diners are just awesome. Also make sure to try fish chop or fish finger or fish cutlets. Bengal never goes wrong with fish.
For the one who love going on a shopping spree, Kolkata offers a variety of options. The most famous, New Market offers wide range of options from Indian wear, western wear, accessories and many more. The road side shops in New Market and other places like Gariahat offer great pocket friendly prices. When in New Market do try the Puchkaas (pani puri, as it is known) and the Hot chips found in multiple places in Kolkata. Also visit the Flurry's and Nouman's Bakery for all the one with the sweet tooth.
Kolkata is truly the city of joy!
