Hey friends!!! I would like to share something which everyone should be aware of. 

Time wasters of the twenty-first century include mobile phones, tablets, portable video game consoles, and other electronic devices. They are useful for playing games, chatting with loved ones, and accessing the Internet.

Since it's not advised to get up from one's seat during a lengthy aircraft travel, one would think that they would be a great way to pass the time. But for those of us who have taken flights in the past decade, the preflight alert reminding us to switch off all electronics or keep them in "airplane mode" (also known as "flight mode") for the duration of the flight is a familiar sight. 

We are informed that device signals interfering with the aircraft's navigational equipment need us to turn off our cellular service. Does this actually happen though? 

Does using your phone or any other electronic gadget really put the aircraft in danger?

The simple answer to this is probably not, however you should be aware of how your gadget impacts other passengers and the plane's equipment while in air.

First, you need to understand how your electronic device works with an airplane. When you want to connect to the internet or make a phone call, your device sends out little waves that act like radios. These waves connect to special towers or receivers that help send and receive signals. If the tower is close by, your device doesn't have to use as much power to talk to it.

When an electronic device like a phone or tablet is turned on normally or connected to the internet, it sends out a signal like a radio wave. This signal can sometimes cause problems with important systems in an airplane, like the instruments that tell the pilot how fast they are going or where they are going. But when the device is put on airplane mode, it stops sending out the signal, so it won't cause any problems for the airplane.

People who fly on airplanes want to be able to use their own phones to make calls, instead of using a special phone service on the plane that is very expensive. 

One way to do this without causing problems for the people who work on the plane is to put special towers on the plane that make the phone signal weaker. These towers give people a good phone connection without making the signal too strong. 

We can only use this way when we have something really important to do and we need to do it quickly.
