Somewhere on Hollow Earth is where the movie opens. Kong appears to be fleeing away from Wartdog-like creatures before reaching a precipice. After luring the animals into his trap, the enormous ape tears one of them in two, forcing the rest to flee as the other one plummets to its death. Kong discovers that he is unable to eat because of an infected tooth when he attempts to feast on his kill. Then he hears a loud, roaring sound, which he takes to be coming from another ape but turns out to be a frog-like creature. Kong then gives in to his loneliness.
In order to keep Godzilla and Kong apart, Dr. Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall) has been collaborating with Monarch. Godzilla keeps his hegemony over other monsters by destroying them whenever they pose a threat. Godzilla charges his atomic breath, sends it down Scylla's throat, and then makes the Colosseum his new bed while the monster Scylla is wreaking havoc in Rome.
Researchers at an outpost facility in Hollow Earth start to notice unusual energy readings emanating from Kong's domain, which results in the sinkhole where Kong killed the Wartdogs. Director Hampton of the Monarch, Ilene's coworker, informs her of the facts (Rachel House). Jia (Kaylee Hottle), who is enrolled in public school for the first time, has been adopted by Ilene in the meantime. Jia is seeing visions of the Titans, and she inadvertently draws pictures that resemble the energy readings that Monarch has picked up on. Jia confides in Ilene that she doesn't feel at home in this new environment. Later, an unidentified Titan destroys the outpost facility.
There's another energy spike that even Godzilla can feel. He heads out of Rome in the direction of the source. Kong appears out of Hollow Earth at the same moment as Jia and Ilene, revealing to them his decaying teeth. Ilene gets in touch with Trapper, a Monarch veterinarian played by Dan Stevens, an old friend. He extracts the tooth with a sizable portion of his technology and gives Kong a metallic substitute. Bernie then informs Ilene that he has picked up a distress signal coming from Hollow Earth. Jia, Ilene, Bernie, Trapper, and Mikael the pilot (Alex Ferns) begin trailing Kong as he heads back down.
Jia and Dr. Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall), a mother-daughter team, are also crucial in assisting Kong in ensuring that he is not working alone. The fact that there is something for every Kong/Godzilla fan in the movie adds to its enjoyment. You get to witness the clash between ancient and new species. The poker-faced As the ardent blogger, Brian Tyree Henry is hilarious, and Dan Stevens, as Trapper, is the ideal companion.
