Vathi Summery:
In spite of the politics surrounding education in the 1990s, an assistant mathematics instructor takes on the laborious task of transforming underprivileged pupils.
Review:
Dhanush's debut in the Telugu cinema industry is with the movie Vaathi (Sir in Telugu). Vaathi (Master), a film by Venky Atluri, recounts the tale of the educational system and the problems with privatisation. It follows the development of a straightforward middle-class guy into a teacher.
We first encounter three boys who discover a box of videotapes. When one of the tapes is played, we see Bala, also known as Balamurugan (Dhanush), instructing math. We are transported back to the late 1990s, when Bala worked as an assistant math instructor at Thirupathi Coaching Center, and off they go with the tapes to the District Collector's office. He is expelled and forced to work with impoverished students in a government school after the government struck a deal with a for-profit organisation.
Government school enrollment is declining on the one hand, while private school enrollment is increasing on the other. Even if the system is evil, it still needs a face, which is where Thirupathi (Samuthirakani) enters into play. He is the archetype of the business bad guy who views education as a commodity.
Vaathi is a movie in which the hero uses modest means to achieve greatness, but the undemanding screenplay only provides a few payoffs, despite some scenes being well-set up. Additionally, the script requires more sequences similar to the one in which Bala discusses the futility of caste and the classroom transforms into a miniature version of society.
Contrarily, despite the fact that there are only a few memorable moments in the movie that portray the depth of the bond between Bala sir and his students, it still manages to be quite powerful due to the children's performances. Even with the tepid dialogue, the scene in which Bala Sir instructs his pupils about caste discrimination as a societal ill gains significance as a result.
Overall it is worth to watch with your friends and family.
Review of an individual about the movie
This movie is amazing. D literally lived in this character. The first half was decent and the second half was excellent. Supporting actors acted well and the heroine was cute and had more space screen than usually. Dhanush and Samukta formed a cute pair and she can remember some of our teachers. GV music and Bgm were incredible. Fights were terrific. The were some flaws in the dubbing. Samutrakani did his job well. The screen play was super and Dialogues are the next positive in the movie: they are really impactful. The message is needed. Venki did his best: Vaathi is a lesson that we have to learn.
