Surya namaskar is the collection of postures in yoga. Normally 12 postures together is called Surya namaskar. But some posture may repeat  in a symmetric manner.

Below list is the names of 12 postures:

  1. Prana Masan
  2. Hasta Uttanasana
  3. Hasta pad asana
  4. Ashwa Sanchalanasan
  5. Dandasana
  6. Ashtanga Namaskar
  7. Bhujangasana
  8. Parvatasan
  9. Ashwa Sanchalanasan
  10. Hasta pad asana
  11. Hasta Uttanasana
  12. Tad asana

Prana Masan is simple and easy asana it looks like prayer pose. this is the first asana among twelve posture in Surya namaskar the health benefits are it takes our system to relax mode and maintains the body balance.

Hasta Uttanasana is done by lifting hands and stretching hands to back this asana leads to increase in intake of oxygen and we can utilize maximum of our lung capacity in order to breath healthy.

Hasta Pad asana is done by bending down and putting hands on the floor beside our foot. This asana stretches many body parts like spine, shoulder, thighs, and hips. The health benefit of this asana is flexibility the stretches leads to flexibility.

Ashwa Sanchalanasan, here the word ashwa means horse this pose or asana looks like horse. By keeping one leg back from paadha Hasthasan leads to ashwa sanchalanasan. The health benefit of this asana are neck become flexible and the muscles become strengthen.

Dandasana is extension of Ashwa sanchalanasan means by keeping another leg back along with previous leg and make body straight this brings to the position of Dandasana. The health benefits are strengthening arm though the whole body weight is on the arm it helps in stretching arm and leads to peace mind.

Ashtanga Namaskar is one of the posture in Surya namaskar where the Ashta means eight the eight parts of our body should touch to ground while we doing salutation to the sun this is the whole meaning of ashtanga namaskar. The eights parts are chin, hands, chest, knees, toes. The health benefits are stress and anxiety can be reduced much.

Bhujangasana by raising chest from Ashtanga namaskar leads to the pose of Bhujangasana. While doing this pose we should look up. The health benefits are body flexibility by stretching back. 

Parvatasan,  the meaning of the word parvath is mountain. This asana looks like mountain when we are in the position. By lifting hip up we can move to this pose. The health benefit are strengthening muscles, arms, legs.

Remaining four postures takes back to previous postures and the health  benefits are same as mentioned above .
