You may have seen different time format representations. Normally time are expressed in local time either 12 hour format or 24 hour format. We may all aware of it. The 24 hour format starts at 00:00 and ends at 23:59 whereas 12 hour format starts at 12:00am and ends at 11:59pm.
In 12 hour time format, representation of AM and PM plays a major role which means: AM - Anti Meridiem (Before midday) PM - Post Meridiem (After midday)
Time Zone: Area or region that follows the uniform standard time for legal and for their commercial purposes.
IST (Indian Standard Time) is the time zone of INDIA.
Time can be expressed in local time along with time zone offset. Like UTC + HH : mm and UTC - HH : mm means local time is ahead and behind of UTC by “HH” hours and “mm” minutes.
Every country has their own time zone, some countries have more than 1 time zone which means different regions in a country follow different time. Like wise UTC + 05:30 is a India Time zone where IST is 05 hours and 30 minutes ahead of UTC.
France has most time zones with twelve (12).
Biggest time difference from local time to UTC is 26 hours that is Kiribati's Islands has a time zone of +14 UTC.
Baker Island time has highest time behind UTC that is UTC-12:00.
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) Before 1972 it was called GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) but now referred to as UTC. The time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time.
One more interesting fact about time is “Daylight Saving Time” many countries have time where one added hour during local summer. This is nothing but manipulating clocks, wow it seems like interesting right? but in India we do not have such kind of time manipulation standards. In US, Canada, UK we can find this time zones.
In US and Canada it is called as Daylight time.
In UK and European Union it is called as Summer time.
Clock is set forward by 1 hour in the summer and back by 1 hour in Autumn to return to standard time. As a result that countries have one 23 hours a day in summer and one 25 hour a day in autumn.
This is all about time, time formats, time zones and time zone offset.
