When you think about leprosy or lymphatic filariasis (LF), mental health difficulties do not spring to mind right away. It is only natural to be concerned with the medical symptoms of the illness first and foremost, but the social and economical consequences are enormous and have a considerable impact on the well-being of those affected.

At Lepra, we think that excellent mental health is crucial for persons living with leprosy or LF; we believe in whole-person care; and we believe that mental wellness assistance should be offered alongside physical health treatment.

One out of every two persons who are diagnosed with leprosy or LF will also experience mental health issues. People who develop limitations as a result of their condition are more likely to suffer from mental health issues. This involves severe sadness, anxiety, and low self-esteem.

We've been working with leprosy for almost a century, and we've seen how people's lives alter when they're diagnosed or fear they have leprosy. They may be acutely aware of very genuine prejudice and discrimination, as well as concerned about possible disability and the opinions of their friends, family, and Neighbour's. The same is true for those affected with LF.

Add in anxieties about school, work, housing, or even relationship .It is simple to see why so many people in this circumstance suffer from mental health issues. This is particularly true in Bangladesh, where mental health treatment following a diagnosis might be difficult to obtain. With no one to talk to about their health or anxieties, people may feel lonely, lose interest in self-care, worsen physical symptoms, and even develop suicidal thoughts.

Mental Motivators is an initiative that aims to increase mental health provision inside our current self-care groups. In addition to assisting patients in managing their physical symptoms, we offer the chance to acquire fundamental counselling skills such as empathy, listening, and the many health care systems accessible.

Restoring Forgotten persons's Lives was a five-year initiative in Bihar State, India, that attempted to develop a comprehensive and integrated strategy to caring for and supporting persons living with leprosy and LF, as well as to combat discrimination in the broader public. Many emotional elements influence our fitness level, including despair, anger, negative thinking, impatience, and fear, among others. A physically fit person is constantly in a good mood and can easily cope with circumstances of anguish and depression, therefore frequent training contributes to a good physical fitness level.Mental fitness refers to a condition of psychological well-being. It refers to having a positive understanding of how we feel, think, and act, which enhances one's ability to appreciate life. It enhances one's own ability to be self-determined. It is a proactive, optimistic phrase that eliminates any negative ideas that may arise. The phrase mental fitness is increasingly being used by psychologists, mental health practitioners, schools, organisations, and the general people to imply rationality.
