They say ‘life is easy’
But what they don't tell is.. it is easy for the people who qualify the certain criterias of being beautiful. Which for your information has nothing to do with the inner greatness a person can have. But has everything to do with a Thing which was given to them by almighty.
So it is easy to say that sometimes life is hard for the people less attractive in their looks and we won't talk about the inner beauty because let's be honest with ourselves.
So life was hard for Shrestha.Just like her name she was extraordinarily talented. She could make you smile with just her presence.
She was beautiful for the people who found inner beauty important but not so pretty for the people who chose colour and features of face over the kindness and humanity.
She was 27. Her parents were looking for a suitable partner for her. They weren't keeping their hopes high. Because they didn't have much ambitions with their future son in law.All they wanted was a boy who would marry their daughter.
She used to get hurt with their demeaning talks but now she was kind of used to it. She didn't take much interest in finding her soulmate because she was familiar with the process . She was familiar with all the annoyed expressions and insulting rejections.
And moreover she knew that.. this isn't how soulmates meet.
One day she returned from work and found some guests waiting for her at home. She wasn't surprised as it was a weekly thing.
Her mother told her to apply some fairness cream and wear something beautiful. She did as asked. She came and sat with the guests in a saree which fulfilled the criteria of being beautiful.
She sat quietly. The parents of the boy talked to her parents. And eventually the parents of the boy said yes to the marriage. Her parents were so happy that it was visible on their faces.
And then the boy's parents asked for the gifts they were expecting in the marriage. They couldn't call it dowry as they were reputed people and were not supposed to ask for dowry.
Her smile disappeared. Her parents were a little disappointed too but they couldn't deal with one more rejection. So they said yes to their impossible expectations.
She was listening all this with her eyes at the ground. Suddenly an energy flew through her veins and she stood up.
She knew what she was about to do was gonna make her life hard but she was suffering anyway.
She looked at every one of them and said “Thankyou for your time. We can't afford what you are demanding. Please feel free to leave. ”
They felt insulted with this gesture. They stood up and left cursing her.
She turned towards her parents and said “I'm done with the humiliation"
She went to her room packed her bags and left.
