How To Plant Ladies Finger At Home

     A vegetable that keeps giving okra  also known as bhindi, is one of the plants to grown in your gardens. It's a warm season vegetable that is rich in vitamin A and can be eaten in multiple ways.

       Take your seeds that have been soaking in water and sow them around an inch deep 8n the soil. Keep around 5 inches between each seeds. In just 10 days you will see seedlings sprouting. In a month the plants should start showing blooms.

       Scientific name for ladies finger is abelmoschus esulentus. Ladies finger belongs to the family of Malvaceae. Common name for the ladies finger is Okra and Okro.

      Ladies finger comes in green and red colour. Green ladies finger is common and red ladies finger is not common. The taste of both is same. Keep your okra plant hydrated, water your plant every morning or evening to allow it to retain water throughout the day. Keep your plant away from unwanted pests and weeds. If you spot any unwanted plants remove them.

      It is the most important vegetable crop of the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It is grown in Kharif Season in the month of June to August. It is also grown in Zaid season in the month of January to March. During the growing period, it requires long warm season. It grows the best in rainy season and in heavy rainfall areas.

       Flowering starts from 35 to 40 days after planting. Crop starts harvesting in 55 to 65 days after planting when pods are 2 to 3 inches long. Pods are tender at this stage. It should be harvested after every 2 to 3 days as the okra pods grown very fast. If you find pests like aphids or mealybugs on your plants, just spray it with neem oil solution.

         Ladies finger when stored in freezer bags and stored in the refrigerator, stays fresh for 1 to 2 weeks. Cut fresh ladies finger and dry for an hour, these cut ladies finger stays fresh for more than 2 weeks when stored in the freezer. Fresh ladies finger can be kept at room temperature for a week. If you want to harvest seeds from the plant to grow more, you can let the okra grow on the plant for as long as it can and let it dry up on the plant itself. After its dry, it will crack and the seeds should fall out. You can let these seeds dry for a few days in the bright sun and then store it in an airt
