Hi!! You must be wondering that I work on a ship and I have a paying job and life's just a travelogue of exotic destinations and food. thinking that I have a taste and indulgence in women from all across the globe. Well, my friend, to tell you the truth it is none of that. 

I have a life that goes around in circles and a life that has purpose but with this constant lingering thought of missing my family and loved ones, keep playing like a constant tune at the back of my head.

I have no work place address, it is the ships I have been assigned to. The ship and sea define me and make me who I am. 

I am different from my friend who lives ashore. He goes back home to his family everyday. His wife cooks for him everyday and sees him off for work , his children hug him everyday, he can guide them and protect them always. Whereas I, go to an empty cabin, smaller than your home. 

Back home, my wife spends endless months, with eyes on the horizon and waiting to hear from me. My children love me a lot, but they understand they have to solve things on their own. They know their dad is out there somewhere, fighting it out alone. My wife spends most of the anniversaries alone and children their birthdays all by themselves, why friend, then you complain at all? Not once have I been there for them, yet they loves me so much, wonder why they'd never complain.

My friend on shore works hard, so do I. I still feel he is in a better place than I. He looks at his computer for many hours, while, I look into the vast emptiness of the horizon through the bridge.

My friend on shore finds it hard to put up with all of it sometimes. Even though he gets weekends to relax , a home to go back to and a family dinner everyday. Irony my friend, I have none of those, till I sail these waters, I do not even know, when shall I go home next. There are but no weekends onboard here, my friend, to read and relax. Everyday, just as the roar of the waves, get louder, you know, my friend, then, that's when I come to know that the night has crawled in. The latitudes and longitudes decide our time and our clock rules the hour. The ship is, her majesty, demands my time and life. I am at her beck and call. Sleep is a nasty friend , my dear, she tempts me and leaves me right there. I have but no choice to watch it elude as the days go away. 

Oh my dear friend ashore, complain not, get home early after work and enjoy some chores. When your presence fills up the home with light and joy, you will know what I implore. Their love is the real treasure we seek at sea, a treasure that you'd just throw away. 

Dear friend on shore, I ponder on the illustrious family life you may be living each day with your loved ones. I can't have my own till the time I am on board. Yet, I need to stay away and fend for the bread we own.

Had I known some other way to earn the bread we own? Young lad I was, back then, the Sea kept calling me from home. I followed her call and left everything ashore. The sea is gives me everything and has made me who I am today. I just cannot complain. Even though the price is steep, every time, I pay.   

Entwined with destiny, my life, is such that, I have never known another. This is the life I chose, my friend and there couldn't have been any other.
