Things I Wish I Could Tell My Teenage Self

Growing up we always have so many insecurities and battle with things but here's to all the teenagers out there, these are things I wish I knew when I was growing up.

Don't blindly follow trends :

Just because everyone is doing it, don't do things that you are not comfortable in doing just to look “cool”. Societal acceptance should not bother you.

Never be ashamed of who you are :

Never ever think that you need to change yourself because of others. For personal growth, yes, but never to fit in or peer pressure.

Heartbreaks are not the end of the world

Yes, I know you may be hurt, it may feels like the end, it may hit you like a truck. But trust me, you'll come out of this and someday laugh at this vulnerable moment and shrug it off as a joke. Remember you are stronger than you think and you will rise above this.

Never let anyone define your life

I understand that you are very young and confused. Always do what you love and enjoyed doing. Nothing matters more than your happiness. I know you have to study subjects you might not like, but you don't have to excel in them.

Mental health is not a joke

You probably have very wrong notions about mental health problems. Don't overthink but never be scared to admit it when you are actually having troubles. Talk it out. When things bother you, when it feels like a storm, don't bottle it up. It's normal and doesn't have to be a hush-hush.

Friends are not for life always

As you grow older, you grow out of certain relationships in life. Things change and people change. It doesn't mean that all of this is fake, but don't ever depend on someone so much that you can't live without them.

It's okay to feel lost and make mistakes

You don't always have to know what is next and all figured out. Making mistakes is a part of learning. When things fall apart, you could either give up hope and stop trying or you can get up again and try harder. The choice is yours!

Be comfortable in your own skin

Short. Tall. Fat. Skinny. Curvey. These labels don't define you. Never think less of yourself just because of the way you look. You are beautiful and perfect Just the way you are you don't have to fit into certain labels.

Remember, you are amazing just the way you are!
