Being a Hindu and resident of a holy place like Rishikesh (Land of saints and sages), people often think of me as a religious person. But those who know me well are aware of how religious I am. LOL! ๐
Let me tell you guys I am not as religious as people think I would be. I am not the one who goes to temple every morning after taking bath. I am not the one who fasts on every particular weekday (As per Hindu beliefs). I am not the one whose music playlist consists of aartis and bhajans. And I am not the one whose room has pictures of deities on the walls and the fragrance and smoke of incense sticks spread all around the room.
Let's take a look at some of the terminology before moving further in the blog :
But but! My mother consideres me an atheist and that is because, neither do I worship God on my own volition nor when she tells me to do so. Moreover, when she forces me to do the same, I reject her most of the times. She's like โOh God! I've given birth to an atheist. Please God! Give her some brains.โ ๐คญ
I just want to explain to my mother that it's not necessary to prove my faith in God by worshipping everyday or by making frequent visit to temples (as I am Hindu).
Sometimes, I love to visit โHanuman mandirโ located at some distance from my place. I go there when i feel like or want some peace or want to stay away from hustle and bustle around me.
But it's not mandatory for everyone to visit a religious place just because every religious person does it. Don't go there, don't worship, don't fast, just don't do when you don't feel like doing it. To believe or not to believe in God is completely your choice. But if you believe in existence of God, just have faith.
You must have often heard, โAastha man me honi chahiyeโ, which is true in every sense. I do believe in divine forces that holds us all together and exist somewhere within and around us. So, I want to convey this message to my mom that โI am not an atheist.โ
