Have You Ever Tasted 'South Indian' Food?

Being a ‘South Indian’ (Keralite) I always had craze for food. To be honest food has always been my biggest weakness. Being a Naval Brat’ I have travelled a lot in my 18 years of life still travelling though😂. Visited almost all the South Indian states, there food shows how variety they are. 

Here I'm gonna take you'll for a small travel across some of the most famous south Indian dishes.🤤

KERALA 

Kerala is defined as 'god's own country'. So, to start with we'll look at one common dish that is made in Kerala.

Appam and Stew

One of the most famous dishes, Appam and Stew which is most commonly served for breakfast, wedding's reception, parties etc. The combination of this dish is inseparable. (Personally this is one of my favorite dishes💜✨).

TAMIL NADU

Sambar Vada

Wherever you visit in Tamil Nadu, Sambar vada has been street special recipe, which tastes so good. Vada made by urad dal, and sambar which is made up of vegetables like tomato, potatoes, ladyfinger (bhindi) etc. with all the masala's ahh sounds so good. 🤤

ANDHRA PRADESH

Lemon Rice

Lemon rice is the most common and spectacular dish of Andhra Pradesh. With the goodness of lemon you'll experience a little sour of lemon, added with rice, mustard, red chillies (Vattal mulaku), curry leaves etc. You'll definitely love this dish.

Telangana

Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani

Not so into meat but this dish has my heart. Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani is both famous in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This dish is widely served in almost every part of the both the states. After the preparation of this recipe this is highly steamed and it tastes really good. 

KARANATAKA

Mangalorean Cuisine

Mangalorean Cuisine is a must try which is really famous in the borders of Kerala and Karnataka. Not just three or four recipes but there are variety of recipes in Mangalorean cuisine. It also consist of 1-2 desserts that you'll absolutely love.

So, since you've been familiar with above dishes, here's small recipe I'm gonna share with you, and you can try it at home!

Puttu, is a south Indian food made for breakfast. Here's how you make it:

  • Take a bowl, add 2 cups of Rice flour.
  • Add salt according to taste.
  • Add water (preferably add hot water) and make it into fine powder.
  • There would be lumps, not an issues.
  • To make puttu, you need puttu maker.
  • Add water inside puttu maker.
  • Add the prepared mixture into puttu maker and steam it for preferably 2-3 minutes.
  • After you see steam coming out, serve it in a plate. 

Tadaaaa, here you go your puttu is ready! you can serve it hot and eat it with banana or chana curry.
