Hmmnn……………
I think I posed a wrong question, or maybe it’s not even a question.
I believe the correct question is “Is he/she your friend in the first place??”
Okay…..okay……..
You might say, ‘he is my first friend, blood friend, best friend, partner in crime…….blah….blah…..
I understand. Truly I do.
But let me ask you,
Okay….okay……..
You might say ‘we enjoyed every party together, we played together, outing, drinks, trips, long drives, teasing, studying………..,
But let me ask you,
Okay…..okay……
You might say ‘he is been your partner in crime since a long time and will be always with you.
That’s the beauty of true friendship.
But let me ask you,
Okay…….okay…….
You might say he is always with me and we would do things together
But let me ask you,
Well……………………
That’s definitely not okay……
If he is not with you in your downfall,
If he doesn’t help you lift up when you fall,
If he doesn’t give the moral support when your life sucks,
If he doesn’t cry with you in your miseries,
If he doesn’t laugh at your work and point the mistakes you did,
If he doesn’t criticize you for your wrong doing,
If he doesn’t understand why you can’t show up to parties,
If he doesn’t show the tough love and push you to get the best out of you,
If he doesn’t stand by you in your career choice,
He is someone, and not your friend, and losing someone shouldn’t pain you.
Because the only reason, I believe is,
A friend is never lost, and someone lost was never your friend. Because they know the reason for your silence, for your yelling, for your pain, for your pleasure, for you ignorance, for your excitement, for your gruesomeness, for your lameness, for your stoicism, for your tears, for your happiness, for your loneliness, for your manipulation, for your fear, for your courage, for your dumbness, for your smartness……..
In total they know you, more than anyone else, so you needn’t to explain or reason out what they already know.
After losing that someone, if you there is no change in your path, decisions, happiness, work, peace…, than I believe that someone was never in your life before, despite their physical presence.
A friend would help you to carve your path in your life, not someone who would block your path. You can’t lose someone who is running along with you in your journey, you will lose someone who was behind or opposite to your path, and losing that someone is never losing………..
Because a friend is never lost, you will only lose someone, and losing someone shouldn’t pain you.
I welcome constructive criticism, and would be glad to know your opinions, thoughts on this article.
