This series starts with the introduction of a man named Seong Gi-Hun who lives with his mother. He is under immense debts and is a happy go lucky man. With a divorced wife and a daughter who lives with his wife. One day he meets a mysterious man who asks Gi-Hun to play a game with him on a condition that if Gi-Hun wins that man will give him 10,000 Won and if Gi-Hun looses he has to give that man 10,000 Won.To which he says he doesn't have that much money so instead he gets slapped at the end of each round and wins the game at the end.He gets a card from that man to play another game like that to get money. After a lot of thinking and to get his daughter back with that money,he chooses to play that game.Where there are other participants in that game as well, out of which Cho Sang-Woo his childhood friend is also present. There are many people who participate in this game, most of whom are under debts. To know who wins the game at the end watch the full series.

Park Hae-Soo and  Lee Jung-Jae as Cho Sang-Woo and Seong Gi-Hun

While watching the series I enjoyed the first half but I got a little disappointed with how the story turned out to be at the end.I was very impressed with this different concept that the director Hwang Dong-Hyuk came up with.A different game and the way they portrayed the struggle for survival was shown in an amazing manner. How a human behaves in life and death situations and the various life lesson this game teaches us is remarkable.I was very much impressed with the concept and the creativity that the writers and director had put into this series. The characters written were beautifully played by the different actors in the series.

The acting felt really convincing, the emotions displayed by the actors of fear, anger, disappointment, betrayal, hatred, forgiveness, etc was very well portrayed.Actors Lee Jung-Jae,Park Hae-Soo,HoYeon Jung played their characters with utmost conviction.Surprisingly it was HoYeon Jung's debut venture in acting and she did a fabulous job.The other actors Wi Ha-Joon,Lee Yoo-Mi,Kim Joo-Ryeong,Heo Sung-Tae,Yeong-su Oh also played their roles with utmost sincerity and dedication. The actors in this series did a commendable job by elevating the show with their performances.Special mention to Anupam Tripathi whose performance was outstanding, his portrayal of Ali Abdul was amazing and I don't think anyone else could have pulled off this role that well. The way he portrayed the naivety of Ali,his easily trusting nature and the empathy that he made me feel for the character was enough to tell that what a gem of an actor he is.There are also special appearances of actors Gong Woo and Lee Byung-hun.
