Domestic Violence:a Curse Since Ages

A very sad thing that we have seen or even gone through is domestic violence. Most of the times we don't even come to know that someone close to us even if we don't know goes through domestic abuse at home. The most cases of domestic abuse has been recorded in India. Almost out of every 1 out of 3 women experience domestic violence at home.Abuse can be of any type.It can be physical, emotional or mental. Some women keep tolerating their abusive husbands in the hope that someday they might change. It isn't necessary that woman face domestic abuse only through their husbands. It can be their father, brother, boyfriend, cousin or even a stranger. Women are nowhere safe in this country. The reason is that people have ingrained this in the minds of men that abusing women, raping them, using them according to their will and disrespecting them is their birthright. We accept this kind of behavior and don't raise our voice against it.It's been centuries and ages of malpractices against women which tell us the mindset of the society we are born in. Burning widows alive on their husband's pyre, shaving their head off, blaming them for their husband's death. The woman is the culprit and always wrong in people's eyes. Women are taught from childhood to be a good girl, parents teach  their girl child to obey them and their future in laws, they also teach their girls cooking and cleaning so that her in laws will accept her.But along with all that they also teach their girl child to treat their husbands like God,how much ever cruel they are towards her, just be loyal and loving towards their husband.Even if the husband is having extra-marital affairs that is also alright. Just keep tolerating everything till the time you won't get fed up and kill yourself.

There is a huge hand of T.V. advertisements in displaying content which is not acceptable. There is display of abuse, violence against woman, rape scenes, molesting woman,eve-teasing,etc.But we Indians love watching such movies, don't we? Unless the hero of the film doesn't give rape or kidnapping threats we don't enjoy the film at all. These movies fill our brain with filth such as if we like someone the other person is supposed to like us back, and if they don't then we should start giving them suicide threats,we should start stalking them, irritate them, make their lives so miserable that they end up falling in love with us. In my experience, the only thing I am in support of is,if you like someone irrespective of the gender and if they don't like you back don't become toxic towards them. Accept it and move on,there are 7 billion people in this world you will find anyone out of them someday or the other.

The only way we can cure this kind of epidemic is by learning how to respect women at the first place. Stop treating your daughters like a stranger, teach them to be  brave and independent.Teach your daughters to be self-sufficient and not take any injustice against them lightly.Teach your sons to be polite, teach them that it's okay to cry once in a while. There is nothing wrong with men crying,it's natural and it doesn't make them any less human.Teach them how to respect a woman, and if they see any injustice happening against any woman tell them to raise their voice.Treat both your sons and daughters equally and someday in future the domestic abuse rate of our country will definitely decrease.
