HEYYYYY PEOPLE!!!!!!
How is everyone? I hope you are staying indoors and taking care of yourself and the people you love.
Well today's blog is about the first reality check that I got after my college life ended. As many of you know, I graduated last week; I mean that my college life ended. So you may know that in the final year, there is a concept called ‘industrial training’. So according to my university, I need to complete atleast 1 month of industrial training.
Just as every college student, I did not take college lectures or practicals much seriously and now when I had to get out of my comfort zone and step into the real world, I was very very scared. I literally started panicking as I was preparing myself mentally for the training. I was terrified about people knowing that I know nothing about the things that I chose my career to do in. I was very scared that people are going to think that I am an idiot and that they are going to laugh on me behind my back. From the experience of my friends and seniors, I had heard that the company people treat interns as slaves or even worse; that they make the life of interns very bad.
I started calling my best friend everyday for almost a week before I had to start my training. She calmly consoled me everyday saying that it is totally okay to not know a thing when stepping into the real competition for the first time. Even the night before my actual training day, I was nervous; so much that I almost thought that I am having a panic attack.
Today, on my first day, I entered the company premises confidently (because of my best friend) and started my training. To my surprise, everyone was very polite and humble. They explained me that nobody has any idea of the practical industry life when they step out of college. You gradually learn these things and progress in your life. I literally enjoyed my day doing stuff that I was told to do. I toured across all the departments and observed. In just one day, I gained a lot more knowledge about my profession that the 4 years of college combined!
One thing that I understood from this experience, “ Doing the thing that you're scared of, makes you a better and confident person. ” So just take the chance, either you will fail and people will laugh for sometime and then they will forget; or you will succeed and become confident; either way you win!
So just take the chance!
