Why have so many writers and writers broken so much? I wondered this after visiting a group of writers. Certainly a few of us have made money in this area, but most of them are broken. Why? Often it is because they have low self-esteem and will not ask for pay equal to their job or value. This is a personal problem, but there are other reasons as well. One reason is because of the simplicity of the economy; supply and demand. Today anyone can be a writer or a writer because of processor-word, software and the Internet - and that means more writers, and although there are many areas that require this skill, even poor writers look good when it comes to everything online. Okay, before I go on to any kind of tirade, let’s talk.

Not long ago, an acquaintance of mine, Dr. "Should You Write Free?" Next he asks a profound question: "One clear indication that you are a professional is that you are paid for your work. If you are not paid, does this mean you are underpaid?"

My opinion is that if what you write is worth it, then someone will be willing to pay you for it, unless they can get it elsewhere cheap or free. In that case the buyer of the article may be getting something lower because of its poor price, your marketing is insufficient, or what you write is not required. In this day and age the details are very cheap, sometimes free.

Writing in my opinion is rarely the most intelligent career you can be, but the whole industry needs writing and a written word (for now) to extract that information from willing buyers and sellers. So there is a place, a lot, for writers, at least right now, in our pre-Artificial Intelligent years, soon writers will be needed, even fictional writers - that's how technology is addressed so experts 'writers' days are probably numbered.

As I look at my library of about 4,400 and growing up, I see that there are a lot of writers and writers published out there, all selling their work and selling books, so by definition they are professional writers and writers. However, as those words are freely defined, anyone who writes an online essay on their blog, which happens to have advertising on it, is paid to write, right? Therefore, the definition of a professional author or author applies. Interestingly, we probably need clarification on this topic. For your thoughts, comment below.
