In this fast paced world where technology is changing with an equivalent rate, we have forgotten our true aim of life, that is, peace and satisfaction. We have become slave to technology.
In the present scenario, our planet is suffering from a serious
pandemic Covid 19 thereby we are prone to read bad news. This has cost us our peace. We sometimes skip our sleep to stay updated through all the happenings around the globe . This has made a negative impact on our health , both physical and mental.
Doomsday scrolling or Doomscrolling is a new term which has been inserted in our lives. This term may look new but we are more or less doing it since years. This is a habit of scrolling or surfing continuously through bad news. More and more people are getting into this habit due to the current situation of Covid 19.
This is a two edged sword . Besides keeping us updated , this scrolling makes us stressed too. We all are unknowingly putting ourselves into this dangerous habit .
Research shows the data of how different age groups are getting into this Doomscrolling.
Age group 15- 35 years help in finding resources .
Age group 35- 50 years blame others for this pandemic.
Age group 60 and above help in spreading positivity and hope β€.
Long hours of continuously scrolling through bad news causes stress , anxiety amd depression. We have seen it happening in this pandemic.
People get stressed which also results into Hypertension and Heart attacks. There were several cases where people lost their lives just because of overthinking and stress. People were so much stressed in the lockdown that they made themselves addicted to bad habits .

This is what we need to do to get out of this habit. The other ways which can be helpful are:-
1 - Mute the notifications of your phoneπ. This will help you a lot.
2- Hide the social media applications from the home screen. Transfer them to a folder.
3- Spend time with your family.
4- Do meditation as it helps in improving our focus and provides peace.
5- Eat healthy and drink lot of water.
By following such habits we will surely be able to get out of this habit of Doomscrolling
