Well, I usually down share much of personal experiences but last night I was going through my journal where I came across the farewell messages of my friends from my school. I have studies in hostels in Dehradun for nearly 10 years of my life and what all I have gotten from there is no less than achievements which I wish I could mention in my CV. The accomplishments I am referring to are none other than the awesome lot of friends that I have made who are no less than family to me.
This all started when I was as young as a 6 year old. I was sent to a hostel amid unknown kids and teacher. Although the environment there was always friendly, initially I felt a bit disconnected however, gradually I settled in and made a few very close friends. My meals didn't taste well without them, my classes weren't interesting. sports wouldn't be fun and nights would be sleepless. Even a day without my friends would be miserable for me. That is when I realised how they were more than family to me. As my hostel was only till class 5th, I got admission in a new hostel in class 6th. The number 1 boarding school for girls in India had more for me than I could ever imagine.
After I left my previous hostel, I had vowed to keep in touch with my friends from there but with passing time, we lost contact as then there wasn't a trend of even a 13 year old having his/her own phone. Well, with no social media and lack of contact, we all lost touch. This definitely grieved me whenever I would sit still and recall my memories. But, the lords had different plans for me because they were planning to give me lifelong friends in my new boarding school which too is in Dehradun.I had heard several stories about my new school where girls were really pompous, extravagant and mean and all this made me sort of nervous and I had always been an introvert and down to earth. Yet, I pulled up my socks and prepared my self for the worst.
On the first day, I saw many other students like me who were either being consoled by the matron or other old students from our batch itself. As I had already experienced hostel life for 4 years, separation from family didn't bother me. This made it easier for me to adjust in the new environment and make friendly faster. The new students were left free to choose their preferred sport and activities. I had been playing Table Tennis for the past 4 years therefore, I joined it immediately without a second thought. This is where I made my first set of friends, my buddies and partners.
This is not the end, but only the intro to the grand story. To know more about my life in my new boarding school, follow me till the next update…
