Enzymes are increase the rate of reaction and perform main role in digestion and metabolic activities.

The molecules that enzymes works with called the substrate. Substrate bind to enzyme called the active site of the enzyme. Enzymes highly specific for substrate.

1 Simple enzymes
These enzymes made up only with protein ( polypeptide ) They contains no chemical group other than amino acid. Ex pepsin, trypsin, steapsin.
2 Conjugated enzymes
The primary structure of enzyme os composed of protein and other ( non protein part) called as conjugated enzymes.
The portion composed of protein part called Apoenzyme .
A non protein part composed of cofactor. Cofactor is a non protein part. The cofactor are mostly ion ( ex. iron. It is required for the accelarate or speed up the reaction .
Simple enzyme + cofactors = Holoenzyme .
Cofactors are linked to the protein portion. Cofactors are simple metal ion zinc, iron , copper .
Other cofactors contain complex inorganic groups that called as a coenzymes. There are most vitamins and prothestic group.
