Why This Family Has Been Living In A Toilet For Four Years

Can you imagine living in a toilet…?

Seriously how could it be possible but don't you know it is India everything can happen here?

But this is the reality. A widow with two children and a mother in law. A family of four from a lower caste have been living in the toilet for close to 4 years now in trumalaguri village of Telangana's Mahbubnagar

When it is asked why they are living like this. She said neither the government officials nor village sarpanch's helped them. A daily wage labourer Sujata 30 years old widow has no option but to place a slab over the Indian style commode place a stove over it and cook for her

She has a daughter named vennela 7 years old and a son named bhanu 10 years old. Her husband died 7 years ago. Their house collapsed 4 years ago after a heavy downpour. They first took shelter in the local community hall. Sujatha claims they were asked to vacate that place in a few days. AS a last resort they start staying in the toilet. The family has weathered rains, snakes, filths, apathy in the tiny government built toilet. Villagers claim the authorities paid no heed to the inhuman condition in which the family was forced to live despite repeated appeals

The sarpanch and Sujata's neighbour said no government authorities came to help. Their situation is pathetic and we feel bad seeing them living like this. The other day even a snake crawled inside their house. Before the 2014 state election CM KCR had assured to give 2.8 lakh two-bedroom houses without a charge to the economically weaker families. A promise that largely remains unfilled on the ground

Sujata said that her family needs a 2 bedroom flat which the TRS government had promised. Following the outrage, Sarpanch has assured to build a proper house for Sujata's family next to the toilet. The Panchayat has decided to construct a house for her and will do it as soon as possible we thought about it earlier too but the issue got delayed due to pandemic

Will the government walk the talk or will Sujata and her family have to continue living in the toilet. Seriously what the heck the government is doing they were supposed to help those kinds of people. I don't know how worst the conditions will continue in India
