Most of you guys here knew about The Great Rajaraja Cholan and not his son The Greatest Rajendra Cholan. Yes, He could be reffered to be as greatest and I am here to talk about his history and reigns.

Rajendra Cholan was born and it was almost 1000 years now. He was raised up by Kundavai, Rajaraja Chola's elder sister in Pazhayarai, basically where the royal family lives. At the time Rajaraja cholan was aged and was busy with Thanjavur Big temple his son Rajendra cholan was being Thalapathy for all forces. Then Rajendra Cholan brought the places in around Chola's Kingdom to full dominance even at the time of his father presence. he was on talks then.

The Cholas then had attitude on expanding their boundaries and Rajendra Chola seemed to have captured places 10 times more than his father in his period of rule.

he did capture places towards north until river ganga. there is saying then when the forces of the greatest are nearing a land, the land would vibrate and such big and massive are his forces. Before 1000 years he did capturing until then by travelling only by land with all forces and animals. There is interesting fact that Mahmud of Ghazni and Rajendra Chola never met and they were almost close to each other ( 200 kms ) when chola captured near River Ganga. Rajendra Chola do captured boundaries near the sea just to take control over Indian ocean and bay 0f Bengal ( Reason : Maritime Silk Route ).

He was given the name of Gangaikonda Cholan in Tanjavur and he made a city named Gangaikondacholapuram and built a temple similar to Big temple over there, this temple has more intricate art in it and built a big pond where all the kings until River ganga should bring water from the river ganges and pour into the pond which signifies all the kings are under him.

Srivijaya Empire over the places then Indonesia and Malaysia today and Chola couldn't do business because and captured those places crossing the ocean and Imagine the power of those Tamilians lived then and captured Maritime silk route which was dream for British and now china. Rajendra seemed to have celebrated more in outside Countires where he ruled than ourselves.
