A Wonderful Act Of Bravery

Hello dear bloggers.Today I just felt writing a story and here it goes...

Sanyogita hasn't received any formal training in swimming but being born and brought up in an area, of small water bodies, swimming came naturally to her. It was around some time last year that, a young boy of seven was laughing in playing in the water. She saw him and remembered her childhood days…She smiled and continued doing her work until she heard him scream. She looked back at the waters but she could not see him - he had gone into the deep water and have started to drown.

There were hundreds of onlookers but no one moved an inch. She could not see him and she did not have a clue of where he was, but she just jumped in, hoping to be able to see him underwater. She spotted him drowning in the deep water and she swam towards him, so that she could pull him out. The water there was very deep and fighting the force wasn't easy, but she put in all her might to save the boy and herself. At some point, she felt that she wouldn't make it, because the force of the current was just too much,  but she pushed herself harder and summoned all her strength until she finally reached him. Sanyogita got hold of him and drew him out. When she reached the show and put him near the steps, those onlookers rushed to pump water out of the boy's body.

Everyone applauded her bravery but her only focus was to see whether he was out of danger. With god's grace, he started breathing normally after a few minutes — he had survived! She never did it for any fame, but her family was so proud and everyone congratulated her, but she couldn't help but think that it could have been any of those onlookers sharing such pride and appreciation. It was her, only because she chose to do something while the others looked on and that's the biggest lesson she learnt from this— "never be a spectator and in the hour of need, get up and make a difference." And so with tears of joy and pride, the 10 year old Sanyogita More received the National Bravery Award from the Prime Minister.
