I AM LISTING HERE ALL THE THINGS WHICH AS A PCOD PATIENT I WANTED TO KNOW . THESE ARE ALL THE BASIC THINGS EVERY PCOD GIRL MUST KNOW .

1.STARTING WITH “ WHAT EXACTLY IS PCOS & PCOD ?” ARE THESE SAME ?

ANS :- PCOD stands for ‘ POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME ’ and PCOD sstands for ‘POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN DISEASE ’. If you think of these terms , we get to know that  , they both are related to ovaries . In female reproductive system , ovaries are the most important organ , they produces eggs and hormones . And in these condition the ovaries develop numerous small collections of fluid — called follicles — and may fail to regularly releas the eggs .

Now answering the secong portion of the question ‘ ARE THESE SAME ?’-

PCOS is an endocrine system disorder whereas PCOD is a condition developed by the hormonal imbalance in the body.

They both share many common symptoms and it is difficult to tell just by looking at the symptoms if one has pcod or pcos.

2. CAN PCOD /PCOS OCCUR IN ANY AGE ?

ANS - They can occur at any age after puberty. Between 5% and 10% of women between 15 and 44 ( puberty - menopause), or during the years you can have children.

3. SYMPTOMS OF PCOD/ PCOS :-

ANS - Common symptoms of PCOD/PCOS include:

• Acne
• Weight gain and trouble losing weight 
• Extra hair on the face and body. Often women get thicker, darker facial hair and more hair on the chest, belly, and back.
• Thinning hair on the scalp
• Irregular periods. Some women have no periods others have very heavy bleeding which can even last for a month.
• Fertility problems and problems in getting pregnant.
• Depression

4. TREATMENT FOR PCOS / PCOD :-

ANS- Make sure you visit your nearest doctor , if you find any of above listed the symptoms. they will suggest you to get sonography done , it reveals if there are any cysts.
