The enhancement of health through the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, amelioration, or cure of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental disabilities in humans is known as health care, or healthcare. Health professionals and other allied health areas provide healthcare. Health care encompasses all fields related to medicine, including dentistry, pharmacy, midwifery, nursing, optometry, audiology, psychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and athletic training. It encompasses work done in the fields of public health, primary care, secondary care, and tertiary care.
Health systems are institutions created to address the needs of specific populations in terms of health. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that in order for a health care system to operate effectively, it needs a funding mechanism, a workforce that is properly trained and compensated,reliable data on which to base decisions and policies, and well-maintained medical facilities that can provide high-quality drugs and technologies.
An effective health care system can play a vital role in the economic growth, industrialisation, and development of a nation. Conventionally, health care is seen as a key factor in promoting the overall physical and emotional health and well-being of individuals worldwide. Smallpox was eradicated globally in 1980,making it the first illness in human history to be cured through international measure.
The two categories of health that are perhaps most frequently discussed are physical and mental.
The state of one's finances, emotions, and spirituality all affect overall health. They have been connected by medical professionals to reduced stress and enhanced mental and physical wellbeing. Individuals who are in better financial condition, for instance, might be less concerned about money and have the resources to purchase fresh food more frequently. A peace and sense of purpose that supports good mental health may be experienced by those with strong spiritual health.
A person with good physical health is likely to have optimally functioning body systems.
This is not just because there are no disease present healthy living is influenced by regular exercise, a well-balanced diet, and enough sleep. When necessary, people need medical care to keep the balance.
In order to reduce the risk of disease, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential for physical well-being. Fir instance, maintaining physical fitness helps safeguard and enhance a person's capacity for breathing, heart function, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition.
