So this is a new hobby that I think many of us have got inclined to during lockdown, so wanted to share my experience when I started doing it on daily basis and never thought of trading in my life as I always considered it as gambling and one only loses in gambling because from our childhood we heard of share market as a bad thing only.
During COVID lockdown social media was flooded with ads related to trading and claiming that you can earn money at the comfort of your home and become rich in no time and we all know our desire to have as much money as we can get so went ahead and tried my luck with $20 and started clicking those red and green buttons and my $20 vanished in no time, although it was a small amount but it still affected me on so many levels and I thought of doing it again but this time with a real account on an Indian platform after doing some research and giving it some thought.
I started to read and watch videos on stock market and watched movies as well like The Wolf of Wall Street, Scam 1992, The Big Short, Margin Call to name a few and loved them all, one important lesson I learnt was greed is a prime reason for ruin after the basic understanding took the plunge into intraday trading, the up and down swings continued for a few months and after gaining some confidence I added more money, sometimes it was a huge profit and at times i was left with little to no profit. Something wasn't right as I lacked consistency, took a break as I wanted to work on the emotional and psychological aspect as these two factors play a vital role in trading.
There is no denying to the fact that the stock market has immense potential but the fact still remains that more than 90% of the people loose money and the reason for such a low success rate is as there is no entry barrier and people want to get rich quick overnight without putting in the required screen time.
In the recent years people have started to show inclination towards investing in crypto currencies, at my workplace I heard my colleagues in their 20s buying crypto currencies hoping to get rich quick without even understanding how they work, the ones who entered earlier made decent profits but the late entrants are at a loss and hoping to get a breakeven on their capital. So the bottom line is making money is not difficult but holding onto is.
