Artificial intelligence “AI”, this word which was heard and read in novels and Sci-Fi is quiet popular nowadays. 

  In this digital age, technology is playing a crucial role in all our lives. The growth of the technology in these years is so fast that we, human cannot face this world without the technology. One of the significant advancements in recent year is "AI", the Artificial intelligence. Before going into the topic let's learn about what is AI.

WHAT IS AI?

  Artificial intelligence refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines and enable them to think,act, and learn like humans. In other words, (AI) refers to computer systems capable of performing complex tasks that historically only a human could do, such as reasoning, making decisions, or solving problems. Some of the most common examples of AI in use today include: 

Chat GPT: Uses large language models (LLMs) to generate text in response to questions or comments posed to it. 

Google Translate: Uses deep learning algorithms to translate text from one language to another. 

Netflix and Tesla.

 Although the term is commonly used to describe a range of different technologies in use today, it is simply a first step towards true artificial intelligence, or “general artificial intelligence” (GAI).

The History of AI:

   The concept of AI was originated from ancient Greece where they predicted the technology will serve humans with artificial things. It is only in 20th century, the modern scientists explored the idea of creating machines that could simulate human thoughts. 

Before we get into the topic we will look at the benefits of AI.

 Benefits:

  It increases efficiency, productivity, and it is cost efficient. It comes with many innovative ideas. It is easily accessible. It is useful in many fields from environmental to scientific.

Though the technology is invented for the use of humans, it equally has challenges, concerns and drawbacks. Now we will look into the concerns of AI which will turn as a threat to human race. 

William Gibson in his novel Neuromancer predicted the invention of AI and how it will be a threat to humans. 

Elon Musk once told that AI is more dangerous than the people think about it. 

CHALLENGES AND CONCERNS:

    ● AI systems can cause to continue the discrimination and biases in a working place. 

   ● AI's Data driven nature is a concern for our personal data and privacy.

   ● AI's main threat to humans is Job Displacement. AI's automation potential is a risk for the employment for humans.

   ● Super Intelligence: AI would surpass human intelligence causing uncontrollable consequences. AI's unforeseen effects on human society can lead to many consequences. 

   ● AI is at high risk of cyber attacks and data breaches. (This is mentioned in a novel Neuromancer)

   ● AI is just created by man can cause errors and failures.

   ● AI can cause social Isolation. Increased virtual assistants are a risk in reducing human interaction.

   ● AI has strong effect in Education. Though AI plays a vital role in enhancing education, it can affect the traditional education and skills training which can only be taught by man power.

   ●Accountability: Humans are responsible for AI driven actions.

   AI also has many drawbacks like lack of regulation, data protection, explainability, energy consumption, e waste, income inequality. 

Conclusion:

   While AI has significant challenges and concerns, it's potential benefits also offer many opportunities for humans. Finally the future of AI depends on proper development and human insights because despite its potential benefits it has the risk of jobs displacement and autonomous decision making. By taking protective steps we can ensure AI enhances human lives without affecting us.
