From the word ‘STARLINE’ you must have started thinking about why the tech giant GOOGLE invaded space. So the actual matter is quite different It is a simple video calling technique . But different from what you think. It is 3-D video Calling system.  IT was announced officially by google on 18 may ,this year but it has started since last 5 years. 

Now-a-days video calls are very common thing .Since covid-19n its demand has increased exponentially .But in video calls you could see a person let your boss in 2-D on one plane . I mean you could see him either from front or  from a side . But can't see him simultaneously from both end .But when you are in office you could see him in 3-D .YOU could see him from front as well as from  a side simultaneously . 

So imagine what would happen if you could see him in 3-D in a video call .[You can replace your boss with your mother, your gf etc]

Currently google is working on such a technology which has been named as project Starline .If it becomes successful then you can see your loved ones in 3-D and it would seem you that you are taking directly with him through a magical window . Both of you are face to face with each other just separated by a screen . It is going to be completely revolutionary .

So how is it possible. First of all you need a 3D camera which would create a 3D image of yours .Then the 3D image would be converted into  electric signals and would be compressed to reduce size which is called REAL TIME COMPRESSION . Then it would be sent via internet and on other side an interpreter would convert digital signals into an image which will be displayed there. 

 Theoretically it seems quite easy but  practically not same. Real time compression, interpreter and high seed internet is not an issue . But the problem is 3D camera . At first it is costly. And again its size is quite large which can't be fitted in your phone and if we try to reduce its size its efficiency may decrease. That is why now it is available only in  few google offices . But you may have heard about a 3D scanner in IPHONE 12 pro max .

This one gives hope of a small 3D camera .BUT we have to wait for 5-10 years for this.
