Basically Teej festival is the festival of Hindus and it is mainly celebrated in Nepal and North India. This is celebrated by women and girls. The Hariyali and Hartarlika Teej welcomes the Monsoon.

This festival is mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Why the Teej festival is celebrated?????

According to our ancestors,  Goddess Parvati was the incarnation a first wife , Sati was wife of Lord Shiv Parvati immolated herself in protest and to prove herself and disprove her father. Lord Shiva was very in pain and grief. She took subsequent 108 births and lord Shiva have to accept her wife again. Her 108th birth is the Goddess Parvati. Due to this happiness she gives blessings and that's the reason that Teej festival is celebrated.

The Teej festival is celebrated in Rajasthan mainly in the desert area and also in the north India. If you want to see the real beauty of Teej festival you can see its beauty in Jaipur. There was a grand celebration on the ocassion of Haryali Teej.

How the women and girls celebrated the Teej festival???

The last night before the Teej festival the women do prayers all the night. Next day i mean on the day of Teej they get up early in the morning and take bath and wear red saree, jewellery etc. They also decorated their hands with Heena and prayer in the front of Goddess Parvati. Girls who are going to married their laws send many things on the occasion of Teej like clothes, jewellery, sweets etc. The swing was handed on the branches of tree and women swing joyfully.

This is the very very great celebration on the festival of Teej. Everywhere is only happiness. Everyone enjoys this festival with full of happiness and also they do prayers of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
