Hey guys back again with some knowledgeable topic. Today's topic is khajuraho temple. Khajuraho temple are the beautiful hindu and jain temples at chhatarpur district in madhya pradesh. These temples are included in the UNESCO world Heritage sites.
The khajuraho temple are developed in 885 AD and 1050 AD by the chandel rulers. By the end of 12 th century there were 85 temples built by the rulers and these are 25 km away from jhansi .
There are many temples in khajuraho during 12 century but during 13 th century when the delhi sultanat comes in power they destroy many of them. Till now there are only 25 left from the count of 85. Can you imagine how much we have lost from our history.

The art and the beauty of these temple are totally different.
The kandariya mahadev temple was a hindu temple of Lord shiva. This was developed in khajuraho at chhatarpur district which was the capital of chandela dynasty. This temple was built by vidhyadhara a ruler from the chandela dynasty In 870 AD . There is also a laxmana temple developed by yashovarman and another temple vishvanatha temple developed by Dhanga . These temple are considered as sanctum sanctorum this is a Latin phrase which mean holy of holies.
These temples were firstly mentioned by Xuan zang a Chinese pilgrim . Who was the follower of buddha and came to India to know about the teaching and technique of buddha. Later on he translated many of the manuscript of buddha in chainese language.
Architecture of khajuraho temple
The architecture of khajuraho temple follow a grip geometrical design i.e the vastu purusha mandala. Here the vastu means dwelling structure. The purusha means essence at the core of hindi tradition and the mandala means circle. There for the roof of the temple have a circle like structure from inside.
These temple were made by sandstone and granite. They followed a geometrical division the Western, eastern and the southern. There are thousand of statue on these temple which depicts the sex between the deities. These temples have grate architecture that can't be developed in present era.
But unfortunately we have lost many temple as they were 85 in number but at present there are only 25 temple.
