Work-life: The Start Of The Real-life

Have you started working yet? Or you are already working somewhere. What is your work-life? How does it look? Is it the same way you have thought about it? Or it is different from the end of two poles. In reality, it would be as similar as it is different.

I will share my side of the story. When I was a kid I used to play office-office thinking what would an office looks like. I kept my books as a laptop, a nonresponsive telephone, a diary made from my books unused pages, a pen, and everything on a decorated table. I used to play office-office without a single knowledge about it.

Now, I have those exact things on my desk and the desk itself. And I'm so grateful for that. But, the only thing that has changed is…

ME

Cause, things have changed. I got a reality check. No doubt it was a great learning experience and a fun one too. I learned a bunch of skills and observed a few things.

Would like to share my experience with you all. Either you are going to start or you are already working, you can connect with this. I got an amazing reality check ; )

My learnings…

  1. Say what you feel/want: I know, I know when you start working you are too shy to ask for help, or sharing your opinion, or asking for a raise. But, believe me, no one is going to help you if you don't ask. Think from their perspective as well. They can't just know what's going in your head. You need to make yourself comfortable in asking every doubt, query, and so on.
  2. Be a little gentle with yourself: When you start working, you want to achieve everything, you want to know how everything works, you have certain expectations with yourself. And if you are not able to complete them, you feel disappointed. Understand that you are a human and it takes time to get into the work zone. Be gentle with yourself. Give yourself the time to learn, unlearn, relearn, and so on.
  3. Be self-driven: This is one of the best qualities I have. If I see work (It can be in-home as well) I try to do it before someone ask me to do it. Obviously, you need to take care of other things as well. For instance, you should know how to work on it, you must have the liberty to work on it. And most important know if others are fine when you work on it.

These are some of the learnings I have, I found them useful during my working experience. The real-life starts when you start working : )

So, let me know when you got your reality check. And it was a good one or a bad one? And if you have not started working yet, then what are your expectations, dreams, etc? Comment down below.
