Match 16. RCB vs RR at Mumbai Wankhede Stadium. Date: 22 April 2021

A total dominace by RCB opener helped them trash RR by 10 wickets and with 21 balls to spare while chasing a total of 177 set by RR. 

Devdut Padikal maiden century and Skipper Virat Kohli classy fifty laid to superb victory over RR.

Toss Won by Virat Kohli and elected to ball first

RR started with huge collapse .4 batsman out at score of 43. 

RR were 43 for 4 in 7.2 overs with Buttler,  Vohra,  Miller and captain Sanju Samson back to pavilion.  

66 runs partnership in just 31 balls between Shivam Dubey and Riyan Parag brought back some momentum to RR batting.  

Shivam dubey scored 46 off 32 balls and Riyan 25 off 16 balls.  

RR now were 133/6 in 15.3 overs.   

Rahul Tiwatia hit some superb boundaries.  4 fours and 2 sixes to make quick run of  40 runs in just 23 balls helped RR to reach a decent score of 177/9. 

RCB bowlers did their job very well to restrict good batting RR side to 177 at Mumbai Wankhede pitch.  Siraj took 3/37 and Purple cap holder Harshal Patel 3/47 were top wicket getter for RCB. 

Now all eyes were on RCB batting performance.  Opener Virat Kohli and Devdut Padikal looked in full confidence and aggressive in the run chase.  The duo made the run chase look very easy.  Comfortably chasing 177 in just 16.3 overs with 21 balls to spare. RCB finished 181/0.

Devdutt smashed maiden century 101(52 balls)  with strike rate of 200. Smashed 6 six and 11 fours.  

King Kohli scored 72(47 balls).  Smashing 6 fours and 3 Six.

Devdutt Padikkal at Presentation: When I had COVID all I wanted was to come here and play, and when I missed the first one it really hurt me. The wicket was coming on really well. When we get into a partnership like that it gets easier. There was no real tension when the hundred came, I told Virat to go for it. At the end of the day even if I didn't get a hundred it wouldn't have mattered to me if the team won. 

With this win RCB again back to top position with 8 points. Followed by CSK with 6 points.  

RCB won all the 4 matches played and only team which is unbeaten in IPL2021. 

A great start for RCB team this season.  Virat completes 6000 runs in IPL.  First one to do that.  Dedicate this feat to his new born daughter ☺
