After the stunning success of Lokesh Kanagaraj's "Vikram," Kamal Haasan began filming his long-delayed "Indian 2" last week. Director Shankar is now scrapping significant flashback scenes from the 1920s, and Kamal is supposedly playing Senapathy's father.
S. Shankar is the director of the forthcoming vigilante action movie Indian 2 in Tamil. It is meant to be the follow-up to his 1996 movie Indian. The movie, which was made by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, stars Kamal Haasan in his previous Senapathy role.
According to rumours,Kajal Aggarwal has a key role in these episodes.
An updated BTS image of Kamal collaborating with makeup artists to perfect his outfit for the 1920s scenes has gone popular online. The Ulaganayagan's handlebar moustache, which he uses to portray a revolutionary from the early nineteenth century, is the most striking feature.
Produced jointly by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, "Indian 2" has music composed by Anirudh and cinematography by Ravi Varman
In September 2017, news about Indian 2 was released. Beginning in January 2019, principal photography took held in Chennai, Rajahmundry, and Bhopal. Following an accident on the sets in February 2020 that resulted in the deaths of a few staff members, filming was stopped. Since then, production has been put on hold due to a variety of reasons, including as the COVID-19 pandemic, cost overruns, and legal issues, until picking again up in August 2022.
After a 24-year separation, Shankar and Haasan are reunited in the movie. Instead of collaborating with his frequent partner A. R. Rahman, who provided the soundtrack for its predecessor, Shankar chose to collaborate with Anirudh Ravichander for the first time. Later, in late December 2018, it was announced that he was included. T. Muthuraj was chosen as the film's art director. R. Rathnavelu took over for Ravi Varman, who had promised to work on the film's cinematography but was unable to commit to release dates owing to production delays. In order to complete the storyline and dialogue for the movie, writers Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravanakumar all agreed to work on it.
On August 12, 2019, the second schedule got underway at MGR Film City in Chennai, where sequences starring Rakul Preet Singh were being shot. On August 16th, Siddharth and Priya Bhavani Shankar also joined the sets, and in mid-September, Haasan joined the sets as well, where his sections were being shot. Later, Haasan and his crew relocated to a city hotel in T. Nagar to continue the shoot. The second schedule of the movie, which was shot in Chennai, has finished, according to the production team's announcement on September 11th, 2019. The cast travelled to Rajahmundry on September 19, 2019, to film Haasan-starring scenes. Later on October 23, Haasan and his crew travelled to Bhopal to begin the third schedule of filming.
