The schedule for India's domestic cricket season 2022–23 was released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday. In addition, the BCCI unveiled India's team for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022, with Rohit Sharma serving as captain, according to news agency ANI. Notably, the season, which will start in the first week of September 2022 and last until mid-March 2023, will have more than 1,500 matches.

The season will officially begin with the renowned Duleep Trophy, and the Irani Cup will be back. According to the ANI report, six zones (North, South, Central, West, East, and Northeast) will compete for the Duleep Trophy from September 8 to September 25 in a knockout format.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy will come after the two multi-day competitions. The 38 teams competing in the two white-ball events will be divided into three groups of 8 teams and two groups of 7 teams, according to the article.

The top domestic event in India, the Ranji Trophy, will include two categories: Elite and Plate. In the league stage, each club will play 7 games in the Elite Group, which consists of 32 teams and is divided into 4 groups of 8 teams. According to ANI, the top two teams from each of the four groups will automatically advance to the quarterfinals.

The Plate Group will include six teams and fifteen league matches. The top four teams will advance directly to the semifinals, while the worst two teams will compete for fifth and sixth place. According to the article, league games for both the Elite Group and Plate Group will begin on December 13 and end on February 20 and January 29, respectively.

Surya Kumar Yadav, who scored the most runs in the just finished India-West Indies 20-over series, is still ranked second overall in the ICC Men's t20 rankings.

Among the batters, Shreyas Iyer also made a progress by jumping 6 spots to reach the 19th position with a total of 578 points, as per ICC website.

The bowlers' rankings also benefited from Indian bowlers' performance versus the West Indies. Ravi Bishnoi, an Indian spinner, advanced significantly in the rankings by climbing 50 ranks to number 44 with 481 points.

Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, two of his fellow countrymen, also advanced quite far in the standings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, an Indian bowler, dropped one rank and finished up in ninth place despite his strong performance against the West Indies.
