As the famous and insightful comment made by our very own JOEY would say, there is not any selfless act ever ;as whatever one does for somebody else that makes one HAPPY, cannot be ‘selfless’.
Well, I bought that most smoothly for all these years, until I realised that when MY actions make both of us Happy I am most definitely doing a selfless activity. Selfish is when 'I' am the focus and I want others to deal with what I like, whereas selfless is when the focus is on the ‘other person’s happiness and I want myself to deal with how happy the other is. Eg-Warfront Solders, their actions are undoubtedly selfless. No one can ‘unconcerned’ give out their lives for the sake of others. I mean they have families, close ones, they have attachments, nevertheless their relentless military training, yet amidst d million chances of losing their lives, they still do it without batting an eyelid. This act is indeed and unarguably selfless.
Now lets come to the point where I am to understand are most of my actions selfless? For that, lets ask ourselves the following questions
But lets check on whats selfish. Like I said, when I expect others to do as I want. Acts of deep-rooted selfishness is as small and as natural ,as always focussing on my likes and dislikes first. Well, to think about ones like/dislike is not a crime, but is that the First thing always? I have actually met people, who think about themselves afterwards. They seem unreal to the extent that I start looking for their hidden agendas. To my utter dismay,I find none, because they genuinely are GIVERS, like MOTHERS. Well its sad on humanitarian grounds, that we cant think of anyone else apart from just our Mothers who are such selfless givers;such is the world. There are people whose ‘selfish’ levels are so deep-rooted that it doesn't even seem selfish to them. They are innocently in oblivion. still that's not the issue, that they are Selfish; the real issue is when they want to REMAIN SELFISH.
