1. Sweetened cereals
Do not be fooled by the kid-friendly sugar-cereal boxes on the market that claim to be packed with vitamins and minerals. Considering how much sugar and processed components are contained in each serving, its meagre nutritional value is nothing. Pick cereals with entire grains.
2. Bars of Granola:
Granola bars are typically laden with sugar and additional additives like marshmallows, sweets, high fructose syrups, chocolate chips, and artificial colours, which makes them utterly fatty and thus unhealthy. Making your own energy bars from scratch is preferable if you use whole grain cereal, almonds, raisins, coconut, and peanut butter.
3. French Fries:
French fries are heavy in fat and sodium, but your kids might prefer them to fresh vegetables. Even if it's simple to eat more than you need of fries, doing so puts you at risk for obesity and heart disease because they are filled with empty calories. Take a crack at making your own sweet potato chips.
4. Prepared Meat:
High levels of fat, sodium, nitrates, and preservatives are found in highly processed meats such salamis, sausages, bologna, hot dogs, etc. Although they may be delightful for your children, they carry a risk of developing cancer, heart disease, a stroke, diabetes, and most surely obesity. Any day is better for home-cooked meat.
5. Nuggets of chicken:
While white bread crumbs and deep-fried chicken nuggets are delicious, they are also high in sodium, fat, few nutrients, and calories, increasing the risk of obesity and heart disease in children. Cooking chicken breast at home on the barbecue and cutting it into strips is a better choice.
6. Lollipops and candies:
Your kids may prefer the brightly coloured candies and lollipops available on the market, but they are purely made of sugar and artificial flavours and colours. Serve handmade candies made from fruits instead, as they are far healthier and are one of the main causes of caries and cavities in children.
7. Juices in jars or packages:
Juices that are canned or bottled are the least healthy since they lack fibre and vitamins. In addition to causing tooth decay, giving them to your children can raise their chance of being obese and developing diabetes. Fruit juices or smoothies cooked at home are recommended.
8. Popcorn prepared in the microwave:
Popcorn is safe for children to eat, although microwave popcorns should be avoided. They include a substance known as perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA, which has been connected to cancer, thyroid disorders, delayed puberty, and high cholesterol in children. Popcorn is different.
9. Foods in Cans and Freezers:
Although the prepackaged canned and frozen meals on the market are convenient to use, they are high in sodium and contain the chemical bisphenol-A, or BPA, which has been related to thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, obesity, paediatric asthma, and liver and reproductive issues. Only recommending fresh produce over canned or frozen is appropriate.
10. Pop Culture Soda:
The harm caused by soda is comparable to that of canned or packaged juices. They just provide empty calories and large amounts of sugar, which increase the risk of childhood obesity while also causing dental decay, caries, and cavities in children. If your youngsters want something refreshing and cool, provide coconut water.
If you are unable to eliminate these foods all at once, offer a moderate serving while constantly monitoring your intake.
๐ For your children's future health, it is still better to restrict their use.๐ถ๐
