Hey guys

Welcome to my blog.

How many of you love listening to sad music at night with headphones and maybe remembering ur ex . Many of us do that , right. And there are many songs listening to them we start crying even tho we haven't experienced anything like that .

Music is an integral part of our life. We just can't live without it. At least I can't . Not a single day passes when I don't listen music.

But can u imagine , a song, a mere song can lead a person to suicide. Yess, we have such  a song.

So , the song is GLOOMY SUNDAY. It is also known as Hungarian suicide song. It is composed by a Hungarian pianist and composer Rezso Seress. It was published in 1933.

The title of the original lyrics was- vége a világnak - means -the world is ending.it was about the grief and despair caused by war, ending in a quiet prayer about people's sins.

Poet László Jávor wrote his own lyrics to the song ,titled SAD SUNDAY (in English) in which the narrator wants to commit suicide due to his lover's death. These lyrics became more popular than the original ones.this song was written many times with changes in lyrics by different poets in different languages.

In eng-speaking world , it became famous in 1941.

The lyrics of this song were so sad that , at that time no publisher wanted to publish it. Seress had a lot of difficulty in publishing the song.

There are several urban legends regarding this song, mostly involving that it is connected to many suicides and radio networks reacted by asking to ban this song. And it was even banned by BBC in England until 2002.

Press reports in 1930s associated at least 100 suicides, both in Hungary and US. ,but most of the deaths supposedly linked to it are difficult to verify.

Well , there is no definite proof of people doing suicide due to this song , but many believe that this song do trigger people to take their own lives specially if they are going through heartbreak or depression.

But there is another aspect , that this song was released at the time when the country was suffering from famine and poverty. So it might be something related to it .

Whatever the reason is , the lyrics of this song will definitely make you sad, if u feel them.

And ya , the composer , 35 years after writing this song , took his own life (did SUICIDE)

so that was all.

I hope u liked the blog and it u did then u can definitely consider following me😊😊
