The sun slowly setting. Minnu looks worried; she ran around asking, “Have you seen it?”

“What?” asked her mother.

“My colour pencils Amma.” Said Minnu in a worried tone. It was a gift from her best friend, and it meant a lot to her. She searched again in her room. She sat on the edge of her bed with a gloomy face; suddenly, she remembered her brother Unni. A few days back, he had asked her if he could use the color pencils for one of his drawings. She denied his request angrily.

“Unni had an eye for my colour pencils, I am sure that he had taken them.” Minnu marched to Unni's room along with Amma.

Unni is on his tab watching some videos. He gets confused by the sudden raid at his room by his sister and Amma.

“What is it? What are you looking for?”

“You thief, I know you had taken them.”

Unni stood there from his bed, unable to comprehend what was happening. The fire sparked in Minnu's eyes.

“Wait till I find it from your room. You are doomed.” Said Minnu with her angry tone.

“I did not take them Minnu. Trust me.” Minnu wasn't ready to listen.

Amma and Minnu searched everywhere but couldn't find it in his room. Minnu became gloomy again.

“Where did you hide it Unni, you know how much that means to me.” Unni denied, “No, Minnu, I did not take them". Unni felt bad for his sister and decided to join her in search of her color pencils. "I will join you to find them.”

A few minutes later, they heard humming from outside. All of them went in the direction where they heard the humming. They saw a man sitting in the chair near the table, usually used to iron clothes close to the car porch. It looked like he was writing something. As he lifted his head and turned around, Minnu realized that it was her father. He smiled most innocently as she saw him holding one of the color pencils.

Everybody laughed abruptly, except for their father. He didn't understand why they were laughing. Minnu came closer and saw his lovely drawing.

“I saw the colour pencil laying down here, so I though why not brush up my drawing skills.” said her Father.

Unni whispered in a low voice, “Colour Pencil theif.” and laughed silently.

Their Amma rolled her eyes. They laughed together and went inside to have evening tea.
