The Thin Line Between Love And Understanding

Love is the most crucial part of any relationship but understanding is one such thing that will make it flourish. Having said that, understanding is also one such thing that not many 'loving' relationship has. Love will make you attached to a person, whereas, understanding will make you grow fond of him or her.

When people fail to perceive, comprehend or sometimes even listen to what the other person is trying to say is what is known as a lack of understanding. Some people do it knowingly and others unknowingly. When something like this happens in your closest relationships, it can hamper your mental peace. Just the other day I had to repeatedly tell my mom that I wanted to start having non-veg again now that I was over with my "Thursday fasts". But that she just refused to listen to me and was somehow trying to convince me otherwise, she even called my dad in between. Those of you who have been reading my blogs know how much my parents mean to me but this behavior of theirs at times really shakes my peace.

Many of you might be thinking why I am sharing this weird issue, but it is because many of our Indian parents fail to understand us, and sometimes they don't even try. Oh! They love us unconditionally but when it comes to understanding us then boom, nothing! A funny thing I read on the internet said “If we are depressed behind our locked doors, Indian parents won't notice that, they will only notice why our doors are locked”. They end up doing us more harm than any good in ways they don't even realize.

This was just an example of the parent-child relationship, but this happens in a lot of relationships sometimes lovers, friends, or anything else. Once you realize a person does not understand you, you automatically try to push that person away. It is a given after a number of instances. You will pull away from that person for your own good.

I will now blabber a little about self-love, apparently, I am on a path to keep myself as a priority these days  (let's see how long this continues). Making yourself and your mental health a priority under any such circumstance is completely normal and acceptable. Just remember one thing, ‘We Do Not Need Any Validations’! from anyone. Kindly remove yourself from any such circumstance and just a reminder for you and for me DO NOT OVERTHINK.

Greatly written 🙌 Found it relatable also, and as you said, Parents' love for us is unconditional, which is reason why they do such things. And.... WELCOME BACK✌️

Sometime indian parents do not understand that we are not disrespecting them, we are disagreeing them.. And in that moment peace takes a different path..
