Conjuring 3, Yay Or Nay?

One of the most awaited sequel of the conjuring series, The Conjuring 3- The Devil made me do it, finally released on 4th June2021.

The first two parts sure did leave the audience in chills, so the sequel was all the more highly anticipated. The protagonists, paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) were all set to solve yet another horror case here.

The movie started with a bang. The beginning itself was enough to grasp the attention of the audience. It opens by showing a little boy of 6 being possessed and exorcised upon. The little boy David played by Julian Hilliard did perfect justice to his character.

As and when the movie picks up, the grip of the story tightens. It is basically build upon the curse and devil being summoned using different totems.

Directed by Michael Chaves, the Warrens are seen tackling a 1981 case that involves a body hopping bad spirit and the first time in U.S. court history that demonic possession was used as a murder defense.

The exorcism of David, leaves Arne ( a jolly good young man who was the lover of David's sister, Debbie) in the grip of the dark evil. As a result of which Arne commits a horrific murder and the court trial begins. The Warrens gradually unearth a series of similar incidents in the area. Ed Warren himself manages to get caught in the hands of evil but his wife puts her head over toes to get him back. As a result, they set out on a mission to show to Arne's worried lawyer that Arne was possessed while committing the murder. The Warren's team up with the local police, knock on doors, venture out into the forest, crawl around basements and collaborate with the customary religious figures to follow the devil's tracks but the story ultimately struggles in the hands of an on and off rhythm that almost feels episodic. Even when Eugiene Bondurant's terrifyingly witchy occultist arrives, things don't seem to be getting any better.

This one doesn't feel like it belongs in ‘The conjuring’ universe without a central haunted mansion. The movie undoubtedly began with a bang but ultimately ended poorly.

I would suggest that it is a one time watch if you are obsessed with the Conjuring Universe. Do let me know your views in the comment section
