A Rape Case Near My House.

I was very elated on reaching level 1 on Candlemonk and thought that my next article will be about it. But as my caption says, my happiness was short-lived. A rape case took place very near to my house, leaving me very disturbed and restless.

This incident shook me. A 9-year-old girl, I repeat ‘A 9-YEAR-OLD GIRL’ was raped very near to my place. The incident took place in a so-called outcaste village ‘Purani Nangal’, a 9-year-old girl went inside the crematorium to fetch water from the water cooler. She did not return. Instead, her mother was called after half an hour by the priest of the crematorium. He told her mother that her child was electrocuted while drinking water and died on the spot. He very strangely told the mother to do her last rites immediately as she could not have afforded to make a police scene out the situation. He also told her not to tell anyone about the incident and come the next morning to collect the remains of her girl.

That little 9-year-old girl was ‘raped’ but the crematorium priest and 3 other men who worked there and while she became unconscious, she was burnt!  She was cremated without the knowledge of her mother or anyone for that matter. The only thing her family and the other people could save was her feet. As soon as the mother got to know her daughter was dead and sensed something fishy with the priest, she went crying and alerted everyone. As soon as everyone reached, all they could save was the feet of the little girl.

The parents of the girl were locked in the room for the night and thrashed, I guess the police failed to make sense of the incident and thrashed the parents so that they change their truth. No mainstream media covered the case until the protesters jammed the road and actually made it heard the way it was supposed to. The incident took place on 2 August 2021 and today Mr. Arvind Kejriwal met the parents and consoled them. But sir, no amount of consoling can take away what they had been through.

It was very important for me to make this heard through this platform. This needs to be heard far out loud. It absolutely seemed like another ‘HATHRAS’ in making. Not just Dalits but is a girl's life worth just this much? Every day, every single day this is increasing because we not doing anything about it.

Who is responsible?

I don't know what to say after reading about such a case. Nothing can heal the wounds of the parents after coming across such an incident happened to their daughter.
