History repeats itself but at the same time it gives you a chance to create history and the Kiwis have managed to do both simultaneously .They have not only repeated the history by shattering  India's ambitions of an ICC trophy but they have also scripted history by winning the inaugural World Test Championship title, and ended their 21 year ICC world event draught.

India's loosing streak in test at Southampton got its third extension under Virat's captaincy after 2017 champion's trophy lost to Pakistan,agonising defeat of 2019 world cup and now the WTC finals.

Since 2014 India has made to the semifinals of every ICC tournament and often looked liked being the most formidable team in the tournament but have not quite made the final cut . It is quite difficult to understand what is the issue with playing in the big day .

It was a match that got affected by rain, it was a match in which we saw a lot of skill from both the sides both India and New Zealand gave tough contest and the one who was slightly better , the New Zealand team got the result in their favour, but at the end it was the game itself which has emerged victorious .

Toss proved to be a  crucial factor Williamson won the toss and made India to bat , considering the damp conditions where bating was going to be though .Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill staved off the initial swing threat posed by opposition pace attack New Zealand was initially struggling to keep things tight as India reached 41 for no loss in just 11 overs , thereafter New Zealand made a comeback leaving India at 69 for 2 .Kohli and Rahane managed to built a partnership but as India lost Kohli early on 3ed day the team kept on loosing wickets at regular intervals from 146/3 India was all out for a low score of 217 runs.

New Zealand began their innings quite steadily ,the first breakthrough took 34 overs ,though Shami proved detrimental and took 4 wickets but New Zealand managed to get a lead of 32 runs. In the second innings India's star studded batting lineup  failed to dazzle , the revered superstars never felt at ease  and their weakness against the moving ball was exposed .Indian batters crumbled even faster on the D'day and gave a low target of 139 runs in 53 overs which the Kiwis managed to achieve with 7 overs remaining .

This defeat is surely going to hurt but Indian team will have to grind a bit and take few tough calls .I think the time has come where the team needs to phase out senior pacers and create a pool of batsmen who will be ready to take the team forward
