1.Raw

Cannibal films swooned people at film festivals — it's what people talk about when they talk about Raw. The incident at last year's Toronto International Film Festival could make people see this as some sort of cinematic challenge, a splatter shocker designed to test the limits of Marine Corps horror movies. As nasty as the movie gets, the harshest emotions Ducournet articulates here tend to be ones you can't judge by sight. She celebrates, breaks out of her shell, and discovers who she really is on the brink of adulthood. Please forgive Ducournau for her arrogance. Raw is more than an ironic nod to the image's instinctive charater, it's an open admission to the harrowing quality of Justine's ferocious flowering.

Fear of women's sexuality, family inheritance, popular politics, and insecurities about autonomy are Raw's fears, as well as exposed and blood and flesh. It's a Gorefest that offers.

2. It Follows

The old, gray nostalgia that creeps into every nook and cranny of David Robert Mitchell's chilling films. It Follows is haunted by the ghosts of old Detroit. 12 miles seedy ice cream His shop His sixties style ranch house in Ferndale or Berkeley His godfather with a nondescript accent on his nose His teens his Persiege to play a game of. But it's there, and it feels like southeastern Michigan... the music, the subdued but oddly rich palette, the constant anachronisms:

Fill in It Follows. These people are still children. In order words, Mitchell clarifies his story:

This has happened before and will continue ti happen. All of this wouldn't work if Mitchell wasn't too concerned with making a really annoying movie, but all the aesthetic flourishes, all the perfectly smooth buns, that bring a morbid life to a single frame. It looks like, but functionally i doesn't promote the concept of novel fare. Depends on someone, slowly leaves the background and the nightmare, walking towards you as if death itself side. First, Mitchell buried his vanity, the tradition of sexual terror, and conservative sex politics under typical horror-film tropes, declaring them progressive genre pictures. increase. It's his follow-up that he accompanies this acknowledgment with heartfelt respect and empathy for a character that in any other horror film would be but instinctive fodder for the sadistic mind. from the realm of moral games in disguise to morbidly terrifying adulthood. story. Likewise, Mitchell inherently understands that nothing is more frightening than the slightly off-kilter of the ordinary, and the true horror of cinema can be seen when we forget to check our surroundings. We trust in the tricks our minds play when we're young. "Forget the risks of teenage sex, it goes on" is a powerful metaphor for growing up.

3. Creep

Creep is a slightly predictable, but funny and wacky little indie horror film that also marked Bryce's directorial debut and came out this evening. A study of male character.
The latter, a naive videographer and his not-so-secretly psychopathic recluse, hires the former to work in a cabin in the woods. I record my life Those familiar with the genre will no doubt know where this is going, but in a way it's reminiscent of the scene between the two leads, the scene between Dohal Gleeson and the Remembered Oscars. It's the melody between the two leads in a way that reminds me of the Iskak I remembered from Ex Machina.  It relies entirely on good performance. Charming and crazy with a kind of safety that's not guaranteed, Duplas shines here as a deranged lunatic who invades the lives of the protagnists and haunts every waking moment. The early moments of sizzle with a kind of uncomfortably intense intensity . It's a well craftled vechile that thrives on the strength of chemistry.
