A long time ago, an epidemic broke out in a village. People started dying all around. The people of the village took many measures, worshiped, but to no avail. Still people kept dying.

A Mahatmaji lived in that village. The people of the village thought that why not go to Mahatma ji and ask him the solution. Mahatma ji said that he has a solution for this thing. Mahatma ji told that there is a dry well outside the village, if on the night of Amavasya, a lot of milk is poured into that well from every house of the village, then the very next day this epidemic will end and people will stop dying.

The people of the village were happy to hear this remedy. Everyone decided that a lot of milk should be poured into that well. On the night of Amavasya, when all the people were pouring a lot of milk into that well, then an old and miser man of that village thought that all the people of the village are pouring a lot of milk, why should not I put a lot of water which can be given to anyone. Won't even know.

Thinking this, the man put a lot of water in place of milk. People continued to die the next day as well. Nothing changed, even the pandemic didn't end. People wondered why the pandemic didn't end? Thinking this all the people went to the well.

As soon as all the people peeped into the well, everyone was surprised because the whole well was full of water. There was not a single drop of milk in it. People started seeing each other's faces and understood why the epidemic was not over.

This happened because what had come to the mind of that old and miserly man that all the people will pour one lot of milk, if I pour one lot of water then no one will know. The same thing came to the mind of the rest of the people of the village and everyone put water in the well instead of milk.

Friends, this happens in our life also when we get some work that many people have to do together, then often we go back from our responsibility thinking that someone or the other will do it. Because of our thinking, the situation remains the same. If we do our part honestly without caring about others, then we can bring change in the society.
