Introduction 

• Animatronics is made up of two words i.e. animation and electronic technology. Animatronics is a type of robotics where robots are used to create preset moves and produce pre-recorded sounds.
• Animatronics is a multidisciplinary field that is used in making a robot that would replace life-like creatures, humans, birds, animals, and inanimate objects into life.
• It is also mentioned as a mechatronics puppet.
• The inanimate creatures or characters are created using in many cases teleportation motion actuators, an endoskeleton is build which is made up of steel metals, strings, and wire, eyesockets, and jawline,for creating realistic motors in limbs. The figures and robots are covered with plastic material, prosthetic skin, in case of some characters with details like colors hair or feather etc.
• Animatronics robot has emotions, motions, expressions and audio as well.Creation of animatronics is very tedious task, involves many procedures and usage of technologies,material cost and time for building and installing the same.

History of Animatronics

• The first concept of animatronics  for birds, creatures, and characters was built by Walt Disney with his creation with the help of his Imagineering team. 
• First creation was audio-animatronics created by Walt Disney's employee who is actually a technician whose name was ‘Lee Adam’ in the Burkban studio which is one of the Imagineers of original Disney.He first created a toy as an audio-animatronic bird.
• First human animatronics was created for the great personality and one of the presidents Abraham Lincoln at the Disney world fair in 1964.
• The biggest animatronics is the Kings of Kong which is 13m i.e 42ft tall at the Carthagonal theme park in Hammamet, Tunisia.
• In the year 1993, Steven Spielberg directed and tried putting extinct creatures like dinnosaurs and other creatures to live in his movie Jurassic Park  also known as Jurassic World . It was created using animatronics and computer generated imagery (CGI) by Stan Winston and his team who is special-effects artist.From than uptill now it is used in every Jurrasic Park series.

Uses 

• Many world-famous personalities, animated characters, and extinct animals in Hollywood sci-fi and action movies, and horror movies have been created using Animatronics technology for entertainment, creation of real effects, and for the enjoyment of tourists who visit an amusement park,or in a museum and also in live theatre.
• It  is also used in toys, in medical field and research, military and in chemical industries.
• In ichthyology, it is related to field of designing an artificial fish which has a camera fitted in it to study and understand behaviour of underwater fishes.

This field has its origin since much old,since the concept of robots and alternative of real to reel has emerged.
