Breathing means pumping of oxygen in our body through our nose with the help of lungs.Breathing happens involuntarily but we can control the rate of breathing with the help of our respiratory system.

An average man breathing rate is 15 to 17 times per minute at rest. This number will move high with increasing physical activity. For example:- if we start doing intense workout then our breathing rate start rising automatically because at this time our body is consuming more oxygen. Also to meet the demand of oxygen in the body our lungs also starts doing hard work which results in high rate of our breathing.Fast breathing supplies more oxygen to create energy in our body.Even after exercise our breathing rate stay high for some time because to cover the loss of energy in our body.

Oxygen is essential for breathing and respiration for our system. If you go on high altitude then you will experience your breathing rate is rising automatically. This happens because as we move up from the earth surface then concentration of oxygen in the atmosphere starts reducing and to provide the enough supply of oxygen in the body our lungs starts doing hard work automatically. This results in high rate of breathing.

Also, there is no free oxygen in the water. We do not have gills like fish to take oxygen from water. That is why divers wear oxygen cylinder on their back for oxygen supply.

Our blood transport oxygen to different parts of our body with the help of haemoglobin. If your haemoglobin level in the blood is low then your oxygen carrying capacity will also get reduce. The deficiency of pigment called haemoglobin in our blood can cause breathing problems which results in tiredness to early and loss of energy.

Let us now understand the harmful effects of Carbon Monoxide gas on our body during respiration.

As we already know that carbon monoxide is a gas which produce after burning of fossil fuels. This gas also produce in the engine of our car and in the generators. But the problem with this gas is haemoglobin has more affinity(means attraction) towards carbon monoxide than the oxygen. This is the reason for unconscious mind if we inhale carbon monoxide gas for long time.Even person can die if he/she unable to get sufficient oxygen on right time.
